Nicknames
Today, I'm going to explain the stories behind my many,many nicknames.First off, Smashley is a creation of Jasmine (a.k.a. Jazzy, a.k.a. Kelle's little sister). She was teasing me one day, and she thought that calling me Smashley instead of Ashley would anger me *just a little bit*. The name just kind of stuck. I liked it a lot, and I still do.
The infamous tuckandroll comes from a little *stunt* I happend to perform a long while ago. Basically...there was a hill...a very big hill...and there was me...and a big huge rock...and once you combine all those fantastic elements, you end up with fantabulous *moi*...tripping and falling all the way to the bottom. My lack of "tucking" and "rolling" resulted in a fabulous nickname that I can never shed.
Kitty comes from Robert (an old friend) who always used to make fun of me because I was always in a hurry. His favorite phrase to explain the choice? "Ashley is always here and there and running and skipping and in such a hurry, she reminds me of a little kitty-squirrel in a hurry to gather all her food before winter." Weird? I think...so. Yes. I think so. But, now he always calls me that when we get the chance to talk, so...I can't really get rid of it.
silken_butterfly isn't really a nickname as much as it is a screen name. I just put it here because I wanted to explain why I chose it. I've been likened to a lot of animals in choosing names (well...okay...maybe just the kitty thing), and I asked a lot of people what animal they thought represented me. After fighting with Robert enough to get him away from the kitty thing,...he started me on the notion that I'm a lot like a butterfly. I sort of...morphed into something else as I grew older. Like a butterfly, I started out as a confused little catipillar, and slowly found my wings.
Now...thats just a few, I have so many more that (just ask my heart, he comes up with new ones for me ALL the time). Anyone has any new ideas for good ones...just let me know sometime.
